DDYSC Field Locations

The DDYSC is an Alcohol and Tobacco free program These products may not be used on any YMCA soccer fields including practice fields. If a parent has alcohol on a practice field, it is the coach’s responsibility to ask them to leave the field. If a parent needs to smoke then they must go to the parking lot to do so.

Please be remindful that all soccer fields that DDYSC uses are fields owned by others. Please be good stewards of the YMCA and treat all fields with kindness and respect so we may continue to use the fields in the future.

Field Status

In the case of inclement weather, the Soccer Director will make all decisions if fields will be open for play. The following guidelines will be used:

  • The weather hotline will be updated after 3:30 pm on weekdays, 8:00 am on Saturdays, and 11:00 am on Sundays.
  • The weather hotline phone number is #404-687-2518
  • Field status will also be available on our website under “field status”. This will be updated at the same time as the weather hotline.
  •  Coaches and parents may now sign-up for the free service, Status Me. It is to let you know when soccer fields are closed for practice or games. You will automatically receive either a text message or email when a field is closed. Service is free to all, but you must go on the website to sign-up. Website is: www.statusme.com
  • Coaches will not be allowed to conduct practice or play a game if the field is closed due to weather conditions. This is a safety precaution and must be abided by.
  • Coaches may not move a practice from one field to the other when a field is closed due to weather. Teams may only use the assigned field for practice due to insurance reasons. (We only have coverage on certain fields.)
  •  If a coach decides to cancel practice and the field is still open, it is their responsibility to contact their players and parents.
  • If a game is cancelled due to weather, make-up games will be scheduled between the teams and the soccer director.
  • Once practice has started, it is the coach’s responsibility to cancel or stop practice if inclement weather arises.
  • It is the Coaches responsibility to make sure parents are aware of the weather hotline, website and status me to obtain information pertaining to field closures.

Thunder and Lightning Policy:

If thunder and/or lightening is detected or heard during practices or games, play will be suspended for 20 minutes. All players and spectators must leave the field during this time. Players may only return to the field for play if the thunder and/or lightening has past and can not be seen or heard.

Please do not drop off children to practice and then leave the premises when weather is questionable. If practice needs to be ended due to the weather the parent needs to be available to pick up the child. Remember, coaches are volunteers, not paid staff. Their time is just as valuable as ours.
Status Me

“Status Me” is a new service provided to the sports families of the YMCA. It is a free service for parents to receive information pertaining to field closures for games and practices. A parent must sign-up for the service and can choose what field they would like to know information about and on what day of the week. They will be automatically emailed or text messaged if a field is closed or opened due to weather or any other factors.

  • To join, go to www.statusme.com, and click on “join now”.
  • Enter a user name and password.
  • Click on register and then enter an email address and/or a phone number.
  • Follow the directions to join the “Decatur-DeKalb YMCA” club and choose what field/s and day of week that you want to be notified about.
  • Sit back and wait to be notified when a field is closed during the season.

The Weather hotline and website will still be updated with field closures for those parents who wish to not join.
